iSeries CPYDBLIB Command
Important Note: Our recommendation is to use CPYDBLIB with options ‘Create Master Data Views’ and ‘Create Warehouse Views’ set to 0 or use CPYLIB command for a test environment on iSeries.
CPYDBLIB is a Silvon command for iSeries that creates a new database library and allows new product feature testing.
If CPYDBLIB options ‘Create Master Data Views’ and ‘Create Warehouse Views’ are set to 1, a logical file will be created over the DSL Data tables and Master files tables in the production library. The logical files will be pointing to the new database library. All based data (Dimensions, Categories, Values, etc) will be copied also. This means the Sales Data and Master File data that is loaded into the production library can be retrieve using new database library. Using these options also mean you will be depending on your production library to populate data into the new library. You must always be aware there are logical files in your production library pointing to the new database library. These logical files should be removed after the testing period and prior to any upgrade of software.
If CPYDBLIB options ‘Create Master Data Views’ and ‘Create Warehouse Views’ are set to 0, only the based data info will be copied. Your sales data and master file data will need to be populated into new database library. The CPYDBLIB used with these options will allow new database library to be an independent library.
